Is a car hire deposit required in Germany?

Yes. All customers will be required to pay a car hire deposit. Total cost is based on the size of the vehicle you are going to hire, how long the car hire reservation is, and any additional (optional) items added to your car  hire reservation. You will be required to provide the cost of the car hire and an additional deposit hold amount over the actual cost of the car hire.

A major credit card in the renter's name is required to secure a vehicle when hiring. A security deposit (estimated charges plus a deposit) will be taken at time of car hire. You must check with the location you're hiring from to determine the deposit amount required.
