Can I return my car hire outside of business hours?
The short answer
- At airport branches? Yes.
- Please note the following: If you return your car hire to an airport but did not collect it from that airport initially, an additional return fee may apply.
- At other branches please check in advance whether a night drop box ("key box") is available.
The long answer
Airport branches
Airport branches permit return outside of business hours and can also accommodate early or late returns. Please enquire as to the exact procedure when picking up your car hire vehicle from the branch.
Please note: The vehicles should be returned to the same branch where they were picked up, unless prior arrangements have been made with the original car hire location. If you drop off your car hire vehicle at the airport but did not pick up your car at the airport, an additional one-way fee may apply.
One-way car hires are permitted within Germany and are charged at a rate starting at 26.99 euro per car hire. The fee for multi-seater vehicles (minivans) and vans may vary. A surcharge of at least 23 percent is applied to car hires from airport stations.
Non-airport branches (city branches)
If you would like to return a vehicle to the branch outside of business hours, please enquire when picking up your car hire vehicles as to whether there is a night drop box ("key box") for returning vehicles when the branch is closed.
